Frequently Asked Questions

Q: WHY SHOULD I CONTRACT CLESI FOUNDATIONS TO ELEVATE MY HOME?

A: Unlike many companies that recently sprouted up to take advantage of government funding, Clesi Foundations has decades of experience with Louisiana soils and conditions for both industrial and residential foundations. We have leveraged this experience to design the industry’s strongest foundations. We then take the right amount of time, materials, and care to construct best-in-class foundations. You can see the difference when you see our work. We recommend our clients take the time to visually inspect the foundations of Clesi and our competitors to see for yourself.

Q: WHAT ARE HELICAL PIERS, AND WHY DO YOU SUGGEST THEM UNDER
CERTAIN HOMES AND BUILDINGS?

A: Helical Piers are the most advanced, durable and long-lasting foundation solution available today. They are drilled deep into the earth and transfer the load of a building down through the hardened steel pier into high density layers of soil far below the levels reachable by traditional cement and wood pilings.

Q: AS A RECIPIENT OF AN HMGP GRANT, DO I NEED TO WAIT FOR RECEIPT OF MY FUNDING TO CONTRACT WITH A FOUNDATION SPECIALIST?

A: No, there’s no need to wait. Selecting a contractor can help speed up the paperwork process.

Q: HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHICH ELEVATION PROCESS IS BEST FOR MY HOME?

A: We analyze the soil beneath your home, slab conditions and layout, and elevation requirements and budget to determine which of the following three residential elevation processes are best for your home: our DuraSteel™ Helical Foundation System, our sturdy DuraStone™ Foundation System, or a Slab Separation (where the frame of the home is elevated, a new flooring system is constructed, and the slab remains in place.)

Q: HOW WILL MY HOME LOOK AFTER THE ELEVATION PROCESS IS COMPLETED?

A: It will look great! Clesi Foundations treats every home as if it belonged to a family member. Our elevation estimates often include many aesthetic and functional features such as stucco walls, raised driveways, deck space, railings, finished landscapes, decorative ventilation covers and more.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR FROM MY ELEVATION CONTRACTOR?

1. A state license for raising and leveling residences. Not just a remodeling or general construction license.

2. No less than 10 years of experience specifically construction foundations in S.E. Louisiana soils. It’s the only way to know if your foundation will last the test of time.

3. Ability to elevate and shore your home themselves rather than outsourcing it to another shoring company.

4. 16″ wide block piers, leveled with mortar and care. Mortar cushions the blocks for strength and longevity. Lookout for thin, uneven 8″ block piers stacked without mortar.

5. True extra-wide continuous footings with piers built on top of the footing, not a pier-pile built passing through the middle of the footing.
